Project Description
Molì is Brown University’s premier traditional East Asian dance performance group. Each spring, Molì hosts an annual show to showcase the dances prepared throughout the academic year, a culmination of months of movement, storytelling, and cultural expression.For the 2025 spring show, titled the sky, the sea (intentionally stylized in lowercase to evoke softness and fluidity), I collaborated closely with one of the co-directors, Justine Kang, to develop the visual identity and promotional materials for the performance.
Taking inspiration from the thematic interplay between the sky and sea, we crafted a cohesive identity system. This included a motion-graphic teaser video, a main announcement banner, and a full suite of Instagram assets. All materials were optimized for Instagram’s evolving 4:5 aspect ratio, ensuring maximum visual impact on the feed. The visual system was unified through a custom color palette and type treatment inspired by gradients, water textures, and water droplets.
In addition, we organized and designed the backdrop for a themed photoshoot, which served both as a conceptual extension of the show’s identity and a foundation for the promotional visuals. We created a series of decorative assets and illustrative elements that were incorporated into the final posters, which featured each member of the group.
